Sustainable development policy

As a part of sustainable development policy, the company refines its manufacturing processes to improve their environmental friendliness, energy efficiency, and to keep exceptionally high quality of products and labor safety in accordance with international standards.

All our products are certified in accordance with international and domestic standards. The company's quality control department has modern laboratory equipment to carry out analyses at all stages of beer production in accordance with European standards and standards of EMU MEBAC (European Brewing Convention).

The company was initially certified according to Food Safety Management System ISO 22000:2005 in 2011. Then, in 2012 it was successfully certified according to Occupational Health and Safety Management Scheme (OHSAS 18001:2007), and in 2013 it was successfully certified according to Energy Management System (ISO 50001:2011).

The Efes Lean Management System has been launched at Efes Kazakhstan breweries since 2014. As a part of the system, Lean Maintenance Program was developed and is actively implemented to use many Lean tools aimed at improvement of occupational health and safety.

One of them is 5S workplace arrangement system that is widely used by business units of our breweries. In addition, Lean Maintenance trainings are held for workers on filling, beer production, maintenance and energy supply services.

In 2016, a new Integrated Management System Policy was adopted to present general intentions and activities of EFES Kazakhstan, FE JSC as a part of three pre-implemented systems for refining the process and system approaches to management of safety of products and, as a consequence, quality in accordance with the requirements of consumers and other interested parties; to mitigate production risks and negative impact of harmful production factors on health of employees and, as a result, to establish safer work conditions and save life and health of employees; to permanently and comprehensively improve energy efficiency (energy consumption, energy intensity, energy efficiency, energy use) by achieving energy saving goals, objectives, and by implementing appropriate programs.

From 2007 to 2017, the amount of water consumed decreased by 2.5 times from 8.5 to 3.4 liters of water per one liter of beer, while the amount of electricity consumed decreased by more than 1.6 times from 60.7 kW to 36.6 kW per 100 liters of finished product.

Almaty brewery of Efes Kazakhstan is a local leader in environmental protection. It has modern facilities and equipment for aerobic and anaerobic wastewater treatment. Significant funds are allocated for landscaping and beautification of the territory of the brewery.
